The University of New Mexico Information Technologies (IT) Networks is seeking to hire an Engineer. The Network Engineer, as integral part of the IT Data Innovation Engineer Team, will support traditional Access, Distribution, and Core layers of networking. The right candidate will be responsible and involved in advanced design solutions for both wired and wireless technologies, ABQ GigaPop (ABQG), and Science DMZ services in direct support of student learning and university research efforts. The Network Engineer, IT Data Networks position helps develop, implement, and document service design and delivery processes for information technology (IT) in wired and wireless networking, perimeter and campus network security, and traffic management and optimization to plan and improve Data and Voice services. As a Network Engineer you will research, review, and evaluate proposals for hardware or software acquisition, provide budget input, plan and manage resources necessary to meet current and projected client needs, and provide on-going technical training and technology transfer to Data Networking staff. You must be able to lead complex projects, multitask, and mentor junior employees.
Work will be performed in a team-based environment in collaboration with functional and technical staff, management and other stakeholders. Work experience in a Higher Education environment is a plus. We are looking for an individual with experience building and designing highly technical environments, managing projects, improving technology services; who demonstrates a strong customer service outlook and excellent communication skills.
